Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American sportscaster. She works for ESPN as an SportsCenter News Anchor. She joined ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been for a long time, starting at her age of nine. The ability to speak two languages has helped her get her first job at Univision, Miami. She could work with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. In 2009 she relocated from Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent at KNVO TV 48 Univision. In reporting on news stories about drug trafficking and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was reporter for news for KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm, a news reporter with a news anchor in English for 9 pm, then a news anchor for 10pm, before returning back to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. Also, she was often asked to serve as a sports or weather anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate, where she was able to take on additional responsibility. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseason as well as the finals of FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she served as anchor. She was advertised as a sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta's parents hail of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually were moved into Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. Within a brief time her father divorced from her mother. She then remarried in 1995 a naval architect whose name was Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died of kidney cancer in the year 2006. In June of 2006, she took a week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta had just graduated high school, but was already aware of the things she wanted to be doing. In the end, she was a fan of the university and the university offered the major she was looking for. Following her graduation from high school, she made the decision to go to the university to pursue a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor and managing director at WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. Her professor urged her to believe in herself and was deeply moved by his passion for journalism.
