Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American journalist. She is the host of SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. In 2016, she joined ESPN. Her mother is television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been since when she was nine years old. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first job with Univision, Miami. She was able to work as a producer for national programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was later employed as a reporter by the CBS station as a sports journalist. In 2009, she moved away from Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reports on her show covered immigration issues as well as drug trafficking and other issues on both the Texas as well as the Mexico border. Also, she was the Spanish reporter for the newscast of 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter of the newscast from 9 p.m. in English and an anchor and reporter for the newscast of 9 p.m. in English, as well Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. The duties of anchoring on sports and weather was often requested. She was then anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given larger responsibilities. She produced pieces about MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and anchored it. She has been promoted to anchoring sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same role for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November of 1985. There is also an older sister. She has an older sister. She divorced her parents within a short time and in the year 1995, she got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. She stayed with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer in which she was provided with a job. Antonietta was a senior in high school and was clear about the career she wanted. When she was deciding whether Mount Union was right for her Antonietta went to visit the campus. As it turned out she loved the campus and that they had the major she was looking for. After graduation, she enrolled at the university with a media studies major. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station for which she worked for a number of years, was a friend. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her by his passion for journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
